Mayor’s Civic Parade
It was an honour to attend the Civic Parade through town. It was lovely to see our new mayor make a speech and we took part in a church service at St Peters church with some of my fellow council colleagues. We attended the Town Hall after for a buffet and we were entertained by some lovely choirs.
Bailey Crescent Parking
Meet the councillor night was a really useful session. We met up with some residents and talked about some strategies to help with parking issues. There has been a meeting with the local school arranged and attended and the residents are working in partnership with myself and Kay, Cheshire East highways, the PCSOs and Buglawton School to look at resolutions.
White Ribbon
I am proud to be one of the council representatives who are keen and very passionate about keeping White Ribbon as one of the town priorities.
Moody Hall
I have been working with residents who are concerned about the state of Moody Hall and concerned about the danger of people accessing the building. I have worked with the local police and other council members to try and resolve this problem.
Residents’ Forum
I have been working with residents looking into the alleyways on Bromley farm who are concerned about fly tipping and overgrowth. I have asked the forum on Bromley Farm to chase this issue and they met with Andrew Fawlkes from Plus Dane to get these issues resolved.
I was also asked about the grass on Parnell Sq and the hedging on the paths which is particularly bad at the moment to be cut and maintained.
Friendship Garden
I’ve been working hard with The Bromley Bloomers and residents on Bromley farm to prepare our community garden for Britain In Bloom judge’s visit on the 1st of August.
Lots of volunteers helped us get ready and I showed the judge round on the day. He seemed really impressed with the garden, which we hope will get an ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ prize.
We have now set up a working group to help maintain the land.
Aldi
I suggested to Aldi that if they build a new store that having a recycling area like some of the other stores would be useful as we no longer have a tip.
Town Regeneration
I have been part of this working group to regenerate our town centre. We have lots of creative ideas and will be reviewing our success regularly to see what we can do to improve town.
Meetings
I still have 100% attendance on all the Council and Committee meetings I am involved in for the council so far. I am working hard to understand the format and structure of each working group.
I have expressed my opinion and one of the things I am most excited about is having the opportunity to work with Streetscape to help improve Bromley Park and look at its biodiversity.
I am proud to be one of the councillors that voted for transparency and online meetings. Unfortunately we didn’t have the majority that day. I believe all meeting should be accessible and open for all residents to attend and take part in. I am proud of the work that I do and would love to share my work with the public.
