Green Island Fiesta
We had a lovely morning at the Green Island Fiesta. It was a shame about the heavy rainy weather but had great conversations with residents and promoted the Hub. It was great to talk to the stall holders and learn about what other groups are doing and seeing how we can work together.

Gardening with FedCap
I had a great day organising and volunteering with the Fedcap team at the Friendship Garden. We managed to lay the new paths and tidy the garden ready for next year. It was a great project and so much fun to be part of a large group helping the community.
There were lots of leaflets delivered by the volunteers advertising our community events and projects. it was a huge event where over 50 volunteers came and really made a big difference to the community garden.

Stay and Play
I regularly run our Stay and Play group on Bromley farm providing entertainment for children age 0 to 4.
We have been having a spooky themed Halloween party for the children who had a great time playing spooky games, getting involved in spooky messy play and carving pumpkins.
Congleton In Bloom Awards
it’s been great to work as part of the Congleton in Bloom team. Over the year I’ve done lots of gardening and gardening activities. I have had three ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ gardens that I have been responsible for and one wheelbarrow for the wheelbarrow challenge.
It was nice to see the volunteers that I work alongside and helped to coordinate getting award for all their hard work that they have put into Congleton in Bloom. We won several awards at North West In Bloom, including a Silver Award for the Friendship Garden and a Gold Award for Friendly Faces Nursery.

Raising money supporting the church
I have helped Rood Lane Methodist chapel at the pies and peas evening to raise money for charity and enjoy your community event. We had a great night and raised £300, half of which will go to RNLI and half to Cloud chapel.
It was a great event attended by over 50 people and lots of fun for everybody who came. I helped prepare the peas, pies and set up the room for the event ready for the people to come .
Harvest
I have worked hard with the children from Friendly Faces Nursery and with Rood Land Methodist Chapel to create a harvest display for the service at Relay Methodist Chapel. We collected lots of food for the food bank and I collected all the food together and sent the food to Congleton new life Church.
The children made a fantastic display and there were some beautiful floral displays around the church. It was a lovely service and nice to see so many people come together to celebrate harvest.
Helping Hands
I still volunteer contacting people who are suffering from isolation to check they’re alright and see if they need any help and support.
This is a wonderful opportunity and I can’t recommend getting involved enough if you don’t already volunteer. It takes up a small amount of your time but it’s very appreciated by the community. If you’d like to help, contact the Buddy & Befriending Service.
Community Safety
I work as part of the community safety group for Congleton Town Council. It’s been a great opportunity to identify hotspot areas in Congleton and particularly my area where I can represent people from Congleton and discuss issues with the Police that need resolving in the local area. I have been working hard looking at getting a crossing put in a Buglawton and trying to resolve parking issues with residents.
Parking around schools
I have agreed to set up a parking group with Kay Wesley and some of the other residents for parking around the local schools. I know what a problem it can be and I’ve been working since I started in the Council with residents from Congleton.
Leek Building Society
I have met with Leek building society who kindly donated a grant to build part of the Friendship garden. It was nice to show them around the garden. They have donated funds for and show them how the money is being used for the Bromley farm community. We also talked about future ventures and it was really nice to meet with the people who have helped us so much.
Community
I have been working in the community and alongside the Residents Forum on Bromley Farm to identify local issue and forward these issues to the forum who work with the Police, Plus Dane and other local support groups. They work to get local issues to do with housing and living conditions sorted. Some of the issues I have referred have been to do with parking, trees problems, the back ally problems and fly tipping issues.
It’s been good to refer people to this group and the people that have had problems have really appreciated their support. I have helped to establish this group and its nice to be able to refer residents with issues and the volunteers help and support the residents to get their issues resolved.
Town Hall and Assets
I have been working as part of the THAS group and looking at events at the Town Hall. As part of this group we look at ways to promote the Town Hall, I attended the 80s/90s Disco which was well attended and great fun. It was lovely to hear about how successful the paddling pool has been and that all the work we put in to design this year’s events has been successful.

Environment Committee
I have been working in the Environment committee and looking at ways to improve our town’s environment. I have been looking at things such as fly tipping, I have been looking into how to make the town carbon neutral and making plans to help the town reach its carbon and biodiversity targets.
My Meeting Attendance
My meeting attendance for Council Meetings, working groups and voluntary groups has been 92% for these 2 months (11 of 12)
