Large group of adults and children in a festive setting

Hub Christmas Party

I have been working extremely hard to organise a party for the community this year. I set up a team to run the day.

I obtained a Grant from Plus Dane Housing  to host a free event for the community where we offered food and activities. During the event we signposted residents to various groups and the children got to see Santa and got a small gift. It was very well attended and we all had lots of festive fun.

Congleton In Bloom

it was great to attend the Congleton in Bloom Awards and the groups I run won several different awards. We won a level 5 outstanding for the Friendship Garden and several awards for nursery.

Its been nice to be part of the Congleton in Bloom team and help to plan events this year.

It was a good opportunity to meet with others and display our work. As a member of the Hillary Ave Allotments team it was great to see them win their 10th level 5 Outstanding award.

Buglawton Community meeting

It was good to meet with residents from Buglawton to discuss local issues. It was a good opportunity as well as our local MP attended the meeting and supported us. We chatted in detail about parking issues, local transport, fly tipping and speeding looking at how we could work together to resolve local issues. It was great to see the Buglawton In Bloom Group share their achievements they also got a Level 5.

I shared thing we have been doing at council and helped to promote som of the local incentives to support residents over the festive period.

Meeting with Plus Dane Executive

I have had a meeting with Plus Dane Housing Executive Director to show case our Hub and the work of volunteers.

We discussed future projects at Bromley Farm.

Toy Collection

I have coordinated a toy collection within my nursery to collect toys for the big toy collection at the Town Hall. The toys are going to families that need a bit of support during the festive time and its nice to be able go support this project.

Stay and Play Group

This year I have volunteered running the local stay and play group at the Hub. It was great to host a christmas party for the toddlers.

I have also obtained a grant to buy some new resources for The Hub and give the children some new items to enjoy.

Congleton Lights Switch on

I volunteered at Congleton Lights Switch on to run the Main Stage. This was a big responsibility and I was in charge of making sure the acts we on at the right time and in the right place. I had to make sure there was adequate access to the stage during the busier times doing some crowd control and helping to run the set.

After this I worked with the police to help combat some of the antisocial behaviour that was taking place.

Overall it was a great event and I have been on the planning team for this. It was great to see how accessible everything was and although it was busy when the sleigh arrived it flowed well.

Antisocial parking

I have been working with the local PCSOs to look at parking solutions on Bromley Farm. I have been trying to improve accessibility and parking  issues on the local streets.

Childcare improvements

I have been doing some work with our MP Sarah Russell to improve childcare in general so looking at

  • Statutory Guidance Updates
  • Expansion of free childcare entitlements
  • EYFS Framework Reforms
  • Transparency on charges
  • Funding and workplace support
  • Changes to the Ofsted inspection framework.

As a result of this and giving feedback I now have a meeting with the childcare minister in January which I am quite excited about and is a fantastic opportunity to present my views and concerns.

Helping People

At this time of year it is crucial to make sure that our vulnerable  are kept safe and are supported. I make time in my schedule to help prevent isolation and loneliness by calling some of vulnerable members of our community

Meeting Attendance

I have attended 100% of my Council and Committee meetings these 2 months.
