Role Overview

The Campaigns and Fundraising Officer is responsible for the effective day-to-day administration of the Equality Party and delivery of its day-to-day communications, responding to what is going on in the UK and in politics.

The Officer ensures that campaigns, communications, and funding are delivered in line with the party’s mission and strategic goals.

This is a hands-on role requiring a highly organised, proactive individual who is aligned with the party’s ethos and capable of balancing strategic oversight with practical delivery.

Starting at 10 hours a week the role must be flexible and available to respond to breaking news with a social media post or press release. This may involve working outside a traditional 9-5 day and should be flexible across the entire week, although a ‘normal’ day per week of work can be established for some of the routine tasks.

The Party is run by a volunteer Leadership Team (LT), each of whom takes responsibility for an area of party administration and policy. The role of the Officer is to keep the momentum going on all of these as determined by the LT.

Key Responsibilities

Working with the appropriate LT member, the Officer will support with the following:

Membership & Engagement

  • Grow party membership through targeted outreach strategies
  • Manage membership systems, subscriptions, and supporter communications
  • Engage and retain members through regular engagement strategies
  • Organise and deliver monthly ‘Equality Hour’ webinars and other member events

Fundraising

  • Work with Leadership to develop and implement fundraising strategies, including:
    • Donations from supporters
    • Events and activities
    • Online fundraising campaigns
  • Monitor and report on fundraising performance

Partnerships & External Relations

  • Work with the Leadership Team to build and maintain relationships with key partner organisations, including:
    • Women’s Budget Group
    • Doughnut Economics Action Lab
    • Centenary Action
    • Fawcett Society
    • Other political parties, where relevant
  • Identify and develop new partnership opportunities aligned with party goals

Communications & Media

  • Manage and grow the party’s social media presence across platforms
  • Deliver online social media advertising campaigns
  • Draft press releases and build relationships with journalists and media outlets
  • Ensure consistent messaging aligned with the party’s values and campaigns
  • Maintain and develop the party website
  • Send regular party emails to members and supporters

Campaigns

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver election campaigns working with the Leadership Team
  • Support candidates and local campaign teams
  • Oversee digital, outdoor and grassroots campaign activity

Governance & Administration

  • Provide administrative support to the Leadership Team meetings
  • Coordinate meetings, reporting, and internal communications
  • Ensure compliance with electoral and regulatory requirements

Finance & Operations

  • Support day-to-day financial administration, including bank accounts and payments
  • Help the Treasurer with budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting
  • Assist with responsible and transparent financial management as required

Measurement and Accountability

The Campaigns and Fundraising Officer will work with the Leadership Team to set and measure KPIs for each aspect of the role. Targets that must be tracked may include:

  • Number of party members and supporters
  • Donations
  • Bank balances
  • Awareness and votes
  • Shop sales and other fundraising targets

The initial contract is for one year; if targets are met the role may continue beyond that initial contract period and hours may be increased.

Person Specification

Strong alignment with the Equality Party’s mission and values is essential.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Ability to both plan and execute work efficiently
  • Confident managing multiple workstreams with tight deadlines
  • Strong written communication skills with experience producing engaging copy
  • Experience in a hands-on operational role, ideally in politics, non-profits, media, or fast-moving small organisations
  • Experience managing social media platforms, including content scheduling and community engagement
  • Experience managing websites using WordPress

Desirable

  • Practical experience running paid social media advertising campaigns (e.g. Meta/Facebook/Instagram Ads Manager)
  • Experience creating or editing digital content, including:
    • Short-form video editing (e.g. Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts)
    • Graphics or banners using tools such as Canva or equivalent
  • Experience briefing and managing external suppliers, including printers, designers, and media contractors
  • Knowledge of MailChimp and ability to set up and measure email campaigns and workflows.
  • Financial administration experience, including payments, invoices, and basic bookkeeping tasks
  • Managing online stores and payments
  • Online financial tools such as GoFundMe, Crowdfunder, GoCardless and PayPal
  • Experience in political campaigning or movement-building organisations
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or distributed campaign teams
  • Familiarity with basic analytics tools (social media insights, Meta Ads reporting, website analytics)
  • Experience working with journalists or pitching press stories
  • Basic design capability beyond templates (layout sense, branding consistency)
